Wedding: The Peach Party

28 Jan

With the new year comes, new colors, styles and trends will follow and set for 2014 wedding. But you ain’t a follower for YOUR wedding. You shall be the creator, the decision maker and to be able to love that day for the entire lifetime.

Especially in the ever-changing world of weddings styling, one has to stay true to the style that best depicts their wedding. Especially their love.

Not forgetting, getting married in Singapore can be costly but listen to your wallet. Don’t splurge and be in debt. No love can blossom further in a sea of debts. And each and every wedding can look pretty even without the costly indulgent.

Agnes & Maurice 2 cents worth advice.

Just the other day I was thinking with Maurice, if ever we host a wedding anniversary party, what colour theme we going to have? Although it was just a thought, immediately we got down to work and here’s what we have crafted.

Crayon orange, salmon and apricot and light salmon. We love how well these colours go together!

Our “UP” inspired guestbook. It’s our forever keepsake.

Have we mention our love on wooden crates? We find them perfectly versatile for styling. Crates can be used to fully utilise empty space or can be used to stack and create more shelving for displaying of photo and etc. Imagination is endless!

What do you think of this? Do share with us if you have any other ideas! We love sharing!

Wedding: Green With Envy Wedding Styling

25 Jan

New year, new resolution. We can’t believe but yes, I’m setting blogging frequently as one of the new year resolution. Even Maurice thinks it’s impossible. I can’t help it but since the DIY side of me has so much ideas, crafted many but not sharing the content for the brides and grooms to be, I feel guilty.

Guilty as charged. Agnes should learn to manage her time and blog more often. Not sharing is selfish!

You know how wedding can be less expensive and yet appear meticulously crafted, just like you have hired a full time wedding stylist to craft every single details into perfection? And it doesn’t take a genius as well all your precious time.

I mean of course, before you start, you need to know what is your preferred colours and wedding theme. A little research is needed but you don’t have to be an artist.

Gave it a name called the Green with Envy Wedding. For couple who loves all green and girly, here’s an inspiration for you!

In case you are wondering what’s that dried flower I had as display. That is Baby’s Breath. It is my fixed floral around the house. Be it fresh or dried, who doesn’t them. Plus point, they look gorgeous even in a simple plain jar. Not forgetting, they are one of the least expensive flower!

If you are not a fan of white florals, in my mom’s words, it’s called a funeral. Well, you can always spray paint them pretty! I thought gold will be a perfect idea but well, I do like my flowers white!

We have more the other colour themes coming up! Do keep a look-out!

Have a good weekend!

Agnes

Crafts: Custom Rainbow Garlands

26 Nov

We love custom orders. Yes, we do! It’s true crafting the usual is much easier than crafting with customers’ expectations. In any way, crafting for parties or weddings is my passion. My passion is paper crafts. Irregardless the functions, the events or the price I’m paid for.

Just the other day, I had a conversation with a colleague. She has a passion for fashion. She wants to set up an e-commerce selling her own manufactured apparels. She wants to see people wearing the clothes she designed. I’m all in for entrepreneurship, no doubts. But when passion and revenue cross path, what would you choose? I asked.

I picked passion. I shall not go into details about my decision but in my opinion, passion and money cannot be placed together, especially if you set up a business because of passion. When you start chasing after the dollars, you tend to lose the larger goal which is satisfying your passion.

Alright so back to the custom order. I received a request for rainbow garlands. Previously I did a rainbow garland for wedding, and now, it’s for a baby’s first birthday! What a joyous celebration!

Here’s the lovely colours ready to be sewn together.

Together with the rainbow garlands, she also purchased the (imo) lovely patterned pinwheel.

It makes me happy thinking that the hand-made with love crafts are going to be displayed in her baby’s first birthday!

Awesome mid-week, we hope!

DIY Tutorial: Craft your own pin-wheel

2 Mar

Do It Yourself (DIY) projects allow you to create your own personalized favors and touches that can be applied in any way you can imagine. Be it on your special day, a baby shower or a birthday party. All you need are some basic items and a little creativity.

I thought some of you might want to learn how to craft your own pin-wheel and here’s a quick tutorial to guide you along!

1. Gather all your supplies. You will need some basic stuffs like a square decorative papers. The one I had was 3 by 3 inches floral paper. A needle. Tuck-pins. Decorative beads. Ruler and pencil.

2. Lay your paper pattern side down, and use your ruler to draw diagonal lines from each corner to make an “X”.
3. Find the center of your one of the squares and mark it by poking a hole through it with your needle.
4.From the center, mark one inch up, then cut along the diagonal lines from all four corners, stopping at the one inch you made.
5. Use your needle to make a hole in the right hand corner of each side of the square.

6. One by one, bring each of the four corners to the center and stick the tuck-pin through each of the four holes. Next, put the tuck-pin through the hole in the center of the square and set to lock.

7. Put a drop of hot glue at the back of the pin-wheel, and attach the bamboo stick.

Here’s our end product! Hope you enjoyed our tutorial. Any question, feel free to leave us a comment or drop us an email at hello@chapelic.com

Have a fun time crafting!
